Do Not Pass Sign

This sign is often found on unsafe stretches of road.

What it means

The do not pass sign tells drivers where passing is not permitted and warns that there is an unsafe stretch of road in front of them with unseen hazards. These signs, together with pavement markings, indicate where you can pass another vehicle and where you cannot. The do not pass sign often works in conjunction with the no passing zone sign, which is yellow and always posted on the left side of the road.

Heads Up

Passing another car in an area with a do not pass sign is against the law.
When you see a do not pass sign, it means that you may not pass in that area, regardless of how safe you may feel it is to do so.
Double solid lines in the middle of a road also means drivers cannot pass another vehicle.
