Is a 4 1/2 hour introduction to the Basic Rider Course (BRC). This course is highly recommended for the true beginner or first time Rider. This course is recommend as an option before taking the license waiver (BRC) Basic Rider Course. Prior to taking the license waiver BRC course this class will give you a head start on familiarity with the motorcycle’s controls, basic motorcycle operation and riding skills. To build your confidence the course is run in a low stress environment with individual hands on training from our experienced motorcycle safety instructors. The course will begin with an hour of classroom with open discussions on motorcycle risks, the motorcycle controls and basic operation, and basic riding skills. You will then transition to a secured off street paved riding area for about three (3) hours of on-motorcycle experience and training. This is where the student will learn how to control the speed of the motorcycle using the clutch (friction zone), how to shift gears, starting and stopping the motorcycle smoothly, and riding in a straight line at slow speeds. We provide the motorcycle or scooter for the training course. (Scooter is available upon request at our Totem Lake location only). Recent experience on a 2-wheel bicycle will be valuable.

Our most popular motorcycle course is the Basic Rider Course (BRC) . This course is aimed at individuals with little or no riding experience (those with experience should consider taking an IRT or an ERC course). The BRC is designed to provide the skills needed to operate a motorcycle safely and competently. Your training will include classroom instruction and a minimum of eight (8) hours ON-CYCLE training. At the end of each section, students will take both a written and skills test. The successful completion of this class (passing both written and skills test) enables riders to receive a Washington Motorcycle Safety Program Completion Card which is a waiver of further testing at the Washington DOL when they go to add the 2-wheel motorcycle endorsement to their Washington Driver’s License.

The Intermediate Rider Course (IRC) is an eight (8) hour course that enables those who successfully complete it (passing both written and skills test) to receive their Washington Motorcycle Safety Program Completion Card which is a waiver of further testing at the Washington DOL when they go to add the 2-wheel motorcycle endorsement to their Washington Driver’s License. This course is designed specifically for riders who are Over 16 years old Have experience with riding motorcycles, but have no endorsement Are returning to riding after a break of several years, but have retained the riding skills and knowledge to successfully complete the course Have off-road motorcycle experience and want to get an endorsement Students will ride ESC bikes in this course (those returning to the sport without personal bikes will find this is a perfect class for them). Classroom instruction in street strategies and mental preparedness for safe motorcycling is combined with range exercises that cover cornering, swerving, stopping, and hazard avoidance.

The ERC is a one-day (6-hour) course designed to help riders with a minimum of 1000 miles of riding experience and/or 6-12 months riding experience to further develop the skills necessary to avoid accidents. On-range discussions will include a review of street survival skills. On Range exercises will include working on proper braking, cornering, and swerving techniques. For the ERC course students use their own motorcycles which will be subject to a safety inspection. Proof of liability insurance and ownership must also be presented before the start of class.
