Eleven years ago, I began driving a school bus for the Northshore School District, originally for the healthcare benefits. But I quickly discovered something unexpected: I truly enjoyed working with middle and high school students. I made it a point to keep the rides engaging while always maintaining a safe, rule-abiding environment on the road. When a friend decided to pursue a master’s degree to become a teacher, I considered doing the same. Graduate school, however, came with a $25,000 price tag I couldn’t justify. Instead, a fellow driver invited me to teach driver’s education at Check-Ride in Woodinville. That opportunity perfectly aligned my interest in driving with a student age group I genuinely connect with. Paired with my wife’s background in office management and customer service, we had the ideal foundation to launch our own driving school. Teaching driver’s ed remains my passion.
