Overview
Founded in 1994, Costech set out to build software that helps individuals and businesses operate more efficiently. Recognizing the rapid rise of the digital age, the company soon shifted its focus to e-learning. Leadership anticipated that the internet would soon become essential for everyday tasks and education alike. At the time, however, while online infrastructure was ready, affordable home and school computers were not yet widely accessible.
In 1998, Costech developed an in-person driver education system that was successfully tested and deployed in two of North Carolina’s largest school districts. When the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools driver education coordinator requested better administrative tools to handle monthly reporting and student tracking amid tight budgets, Costech expanded the platform accordingly. Today, the system offers a comprehensive suite of features, including student registration, certificate issuance, teacher effectiveness assessments, equipment inventory management, and integrated timesheets and payroll.
Many of these administrative and operational tools have since been adopted by organizations of all sizes across the United States and internationally.
Building on this foundation, Costech has expanded into blended learning. An online curriculum is currently being piloted in South Carolina, while self-paced programs are now active in Georgia, Colorado, and Pennsylvania. Partner programs in these states rely on the platform to deliver high-quality classroom instruction to students in even the most remote areas.
