Behind the Wheel Training for Teens
DMV requires students under the age of 18 to complete 14 periods of behind the wheel instruction with a certified instructor. This is a 7-day course where the student drives for a period of 50 minutes then observes another student for a period of 50 minutes each day. On the 7th day of training the student will be evaluated and if they successfully complete the evaluation they will be given an interim/temporary paper license. DMV will notify the student when it is time to attend court and then receive their permanent license. This notification is normally done within 6 months and is sent to the home of record as listed at DMV.
