Virginia Driver Improvement Academy

Virginia Driver Improvement Academy (VDIA) offers a DMV-approved driver improvement course in Prince William County. Built on proven safe driving practices and the latest research, our program was developed by a national traffic safety leader. You’ll learn current defensive driving techniques, collision avoidance, and the risks of alcohol and drugs. The course is designed to give you the knowledge and risk management tools to become a safe, effective driver. It fulfills the 8-hour traffic school requirement for most violations. Our in-person classes combine videos, interactive exercises, and group discussion to make learning both educational and enjoyable. If you prefer an online course, you’ll still need to visit an approved Virginia test site. All Virginia online defensive driving courses require you to take the final exam in person at a testing center. Please note: Drivers under 20 years old and those with a Virginia Commercial Motor Vehicle license cannot take the course online. You must attend the course in person at a Virginia classroom location.
