Overview

We sell safety — the bargain of your life! Austin Driving School opened its doors in 1977 on Sixth Street in downtown Austin. In those early days, students learned behind the wheel of an Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, a Buick Century, and a Ford Pinto. Today, our fleet is all dependable Toyota Corollas. Although that original Sixth Street spot has closed, we’ve grown to serve families all over Texas: Far South, South, North, and Northwest Austin, Westlake, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Waco, Temple, North and South Arlington, Garland, Bryan, Fort Worth, White Settlement, and North and Northeast San Antonio. You can’t miss our legendary burro on every driver’s ed car. He’s often mistaken for a rabbit, but this burro learning to drive — “Driver Ed” — is the school’s beloved mascot. Over the years, Ed has ridden along with teens, then their kids, and even their grandkids, as they learned to drive. Once, he sat on the roof of a getaway car for a couple who met in driver’s education. As much fun as Ed brings, our heart has always been teaching safety and defensive driving. Yes, you can physically teach a burro to drive, but the mental skill of driving defensively is a lifesaving technique we’re proud to give every student. The ADS difference: Austin Driving School has served Central Texas for more than 40 years. With over 18 locations across the region, we’re consistently the largest driving school in Texas. We schedule lessons seven days a week for your convenience, patiently coach nervous drivers and seniors, deliver quality service at fair prices, and let you use our training car for your road test.
