Overview

Texas R.I.D.E.R. was the first independent organization to provide motorcycle operator training in Texas. Since 1989, we have been teaching riders safe handling techniques through Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) certified programs. Approved and contracted by the Texas Department of Public Safety, we offer reasonably priced, conveniently scheduled Basic and Experienced Rider Courses. Successfully completing the Basic Rider Course waives the riding portion of the DPS licensing exam for adults 18 and older. We train riders on all motorcycle types, including scooters, sport bikes, cruisers, dual-purpose, and touring models. Our weekly classes equip you with the skills needed for safe and enjoyable riding. For experienced motorcyclists, our Experienced Rider Course refines your techniques and provides a controlled environment to practice riding with a passenger. We also offer private lessons, one-on-one remedial training, and can arrange customized Basic or Experienced courses for groups and organizations. Law enforcement personnel can earn TCLEOSE credit, with 16 hours available for the Basic Rider Course and 8 hours for the Experienced Rider Course.   • Basic Rider Course

    The basic course is for you if you've never ridden at all or if you haven't had much riding experience. In this 16 hour course with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's 3-4 hr. e-Course, we teach you how to operate a motorcycle, the best protective clothing to wear, how to avoid dangerous situations, and most importantly, how to get out of those dangerous situations you can't avoid. You'll learn to make a motorcycle perform like an extension of yourself, and by the end of the course we will be challenging your skills at the two year riding level. The best part is you don't even need a helmet or a motorcycle, we provide them for you! Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Completion Certificate that you take to your local DPS office where you receive your motorcycle endorsement on your license. Students under the age of 18 Must have completed drivers education or show a drivers learning permit. They must also submit a release form signed by a parent or legal guardian.

  • Basic Ridercourse 2 (Experienced Rider Course)

    The 5 hour advanced course is for experienced riders only. Even experienced riders may have developed bad riding habits that they aren't aware of. Maybe there was never an opportunity to develop accident avoidance skills, with professional instruction and in a controlled environment. Since advanced students use their own motorcycles, you'll see all types of bikes, from cruisers to sport bikes to touring machines. No matter how long you've been riding, the advanced course is tough enough to challenge your skills. You learn high speed maneuvering, quick swerving and avoidance techniques, countersteering, traction control, emergency braking for curves and slippery surfaces.
