Safety isn’t just what we teach—it’s the most important thing we provide. Austin Driving School opened its doors in 1977 on downtown Austin’s Sixth Street. Over the decades, we’ve upgraded our original fleet of classic cars to modern Toyota Corollas and expanded well beyond our founding neighborhood. Today, we operate more than 18 locations across the region, serving students in Far South, South, North, and Northwest Austin, as well as Westlake, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Waco, Temple, North and South Arlington, Garland, Bryan, Fort Worth, White Settlement, and North and Northeast San Antonio. You’ll recognize our iconic mascot, Driver Ed the burro, on every training vehicle. Often mistaken for a rabbit, Ed has been a beloved part of our program for generations. He’s shared the road with countless students, from teens earning their first licenses to couples who met in our classroom and later placed him on their wedding getaway car. But behind the fun is our true mission: teaching the defensive driving skills that keep students safe for life. With over 40 years in business, Austin Driving School remains the largest driving school in Texas.
