Overview

Texas R.I.D.E.R. has been teaching safe riding skills to Texans since 1989. As the first independent motorcycle training provider in the state, we are Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) certified and approved by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). We offer reasonably priced, conveniently scheduled courses for riders of all experience levels and motorcycle types, including scooters, sport bikes, cruisers, dual-sport, and touring models. Our weekly classes are designed to build the skills you need for safe and confident riding. Students aged 18 and older who successfully complete our Basic Rider Course will have the riding portion of the DPS licensing test waived. For seasoned riders, our Experienced Rider Course refines your techniques and provides a controlled environment to practice riding with a passenger. We also offer flexible training options to fit your schedule. Arrange private Basic or Experienced courses for your group or organization, book individual private lessons, or receive one-on-one remedial training within our standard course framework. Law enforcement officers can earn TCLEOSE credit hours (16 for the Basic Rider Course, 8 for the Experienced Rider Course). Let us help you earn your official “M” endorsement so you can ride legally and avoid tickets and penalties. Gift certificates are available for all courses.

  • Basic Rider Course

    The basic course is for you if you've never ridden at all or if you haven't had much riding experience. In this 16 hour course with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's 3-4 hr. e-Course, we teach you how to operate a motorcycle, the best protective clothing to wear, how to avoid dangerous situations, and most importantly, how to get out of those dangerous situations you can't avoid. You'll learn to make a motorcycle perform like an extension of yourself, and by the end of the course we will be challenging your skills at the two year riding level. The best part is you don't even need a helmet or a motorcycle, we provide them for you! Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Completion Certificate that you take to your local DPS office where you receive your motorcycle endorsement on your license. Students under the age of 18 Must have completed drivers education or show a drivers learning permit. They must also submit a release form signed by a parent or legal guardian.

  • Basic Ridercourse 2 (Experienced Rider Course)

    The 5 hour advanced course is for experienced riders only. Even experienced riders may have developed bad riding habits that they aren't aware of. Maybe there was never an opportunity to develop accident avoidance skills, with professional instruction and in a controlled environment. Since advanced students use their own motorcycles, you'll see all types of bikes, from cruisers to sport bikes to touring machines. No matter how long you've been riding, the advanced course is tough enough to challenge your skills. You learn high speed maneuvering, quick swerving and avoidance techniques, countersteering, traction control, emergency braking for curves and slippery surfaces.
