We sell safety – the bargain of your life! Austin Driving School first opened its doors on Austin’s notorious Sixth Street in 1977. Over the years, our fleet evolved from an Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, Buick Century, and Ford Pinto to the reliable Toyota Corollas we use today. Although we no longer have a location on Sixth Street, we’ve expanded to serve communities across Central Texas: from Far South, South, North, and Northwest Austin to Westlake, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Waco, Temple, North and South Arlington, Garland, Bryan, Fort Worth, White Settlement, and North and Northeast San Antonio. One thing that makes Austin Driving School truly memorable is the legendary burro, affectionately named Driver “Ed,” that appears on every driver’s ed car. Often mistaken for a rabbit, the story behind Ed learning to drive remains a delightful mystery. Ed has been a part of our school since the beginning—watching over teens, and eventually their kids and grandkids, as they learn to drive. He even sat on the roof of a couple’s wedding car after they met in driver’s education. While Ed adds a touch of fun, our core mission has always been teaching safety and defensive driving. A burro can be taught the mechanics, but the mental skills of defensive driving are life-saving, and that’s what Austin Driving School takes pride in teaching every student. The ADS difference – Austin Driving School has been serving Central Texas for over 40 years. With 18+ locations across the region, we consistently remain the largest driving school in Texas. We offer convenient scheduling seven days a week, specialized help for nervous drivers and the elderly, quality instruction at reasonable rates, and the use of our training cars for road tests.
