Austin Driving School
Training families since 1977
Overview
We believe quality driver education is an essential, affordable investment in your lifelong safety.
Austin Driving School opened in 1977 on Austin’s historic Sixth Street. Over the decades, our training fleet has evolved from classic American sedans to reliable Toyota Corollas, but our commitment to student success has never changed. While we no longer operate at our original downtown location, we have grown into the largest driving school in Texas. Today, we serve students from more than 18 convenient locations across the region, including Far South, South, North, and Northwest Austin, Westlake, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Waco, Temple, North and South Arlington, Garland, Bryan, Fort Worth, White Settlement, and North and Northeast San Antonio.
Our fleet is easily recognized by the signature mascot mounted on every training vehicle: a friendly burro figure. Often mistaken for a rabbit, “Ed” has been a beloved part of our school since day one, even appearing on wedding getaway cars for couples who met in our classrooms. While Ed brings a smile to our students, our true focus has always been serious driver education. We specialize in defensive driving, teaching students not just how to operate a vehicle, but how to read the road, anticipate hazards, and make safe decisions behind the wheel. Mastering these mental skills is a life-saving technique that we take pride in passing on to every driver.
