Austin Driving School opened in 1977 on downtown Austin’s historic Sixth Street. We have grown significantly since our early days of teaching in classic cars like the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, Buick Century, and Ford Pinto. Today, we train students in modern Toyota Corollas and serve the community from multiple convenient locations across Texas, including Far South, South, North, and Northwest Austin, Westlake, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Waco, Temple, North and South Arlington, Garland, Bryan, Fort Worth, White Settlement, and North and Northeast San Antonio.

You will recognize our fleet by the famous burro mascot featured on every training vehicle. Though often mistaken for a rabbit, the story behind our “learning-to-drive” burro has always remained a fun mystery. Over the decades, Driver “Ed” has accompanied countless students—including a newlywed couple who met in our classrooms and drove off with him on their getaway car. While “Ed” adds a lighthearted tradition to our school, our true priority has always been serious: we take pride in teaching defensive driving techniques that keep our students safe for life.
