Overview

With more than 40 years of experience, Rusty Hires launched his first driving school in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1968 before opening his first South Carolina location in Moncks Corner in 1987. “I love cars. I love people. I hate accidents,” he shared with The Post and Courier. In addition to running the school, Rusty serves as co-chair of the Summerville Mayor’s Committee on the Employment of People with Disabilities. Today, Rusty’s Driving School is one of the few state-certified programs in South Carolina specially trained to teach drivers with special needs.
