Overview
At James Island Driving School, our goal is to help you become a safe and confident driver. We prioritize safety in every lesson. Our courses are fully certified by the SC-DMV and AAA, and our experienced instructors bring years of professional teaching expertise to every session. We offer driver’s education for teens and adults, along with defensive driving programs for individuals and businesses. We also administer the SCDMV Beginner’s Permit Test and the official SCDMV Driving Test. Plus, completing our comprehensive course may qualify you for a discount with most auto insurance providers.

Training Programs

The Basic Drivers Ed Course
One eight hour class and six hours of one-on-one driving instruction behind the wheel. The student will have three two-hour driving sessions. This is the minimum state requirement for drivers education and this is required for 15 & 16.

The Preferred Drivers Ed Course
One eight hour class and eight hours of one-on-one driving instruction behind the wheel. The student will have four two-hour driving sessions.

The Preferred Plus Drivers Ed Course
One eight hour class and ten hours of one-on-one driving instruction behind the wheel. The student will have five two-hour driving sessions. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) minimum recommendation.

We offer the SCDMV Driving Test to our students and the general public once all requirements have been met! Car rental available for an additional $50
