Overview
As soon as the first automobiles appeared on American roads, drivers started banding together into clubs. Back in 1902, there were only 23,000 cars—compared to 17 million horses. On March 4 of that year, 50 small motoring clubs from across the country gathered in Chicago and formed the American Automobile Association (AAA). For over a century, AAA has worked to shape the future of transportation, championing safe, efficient highways and a multi-modal system that’s accessible and affordable for everyone.
Today, AAA extends benefits to members traveling in 130 countries on six continents through partnerships with motoring clubs worldwide. We’re a fully tax-paying, not-for-profit federation of motor clubs, serving more than 59 million members in the United States and Canada.
We exist for our members. Every decision we make is measured by how well it meets their needs.
