Overview

I still believe that generosity is its own reward, that kindness will prevail, and that might does not make right. I still believe that a gentle response can turn away anger, that there is true power in compassion, and that we are more than just flesh and bone. I still believe that life brings greater happiness when we prioritize peace over possessions. I still believe that people guided by gentleness and faith can change the world. I still believe this, and nothing will ever make me stop.

  • PRIVATE DRIVING LESSONS

You may register online for driving lessons, or call our office directly at 724-538-4653. We normally schedule several weeks in advance, and summer is our busiest season, so, if possible, please register well before your expected test date. For the private driving lessons, we normally pick the student up at your home or after school. However, if you are outside our normal pickup area, we may occasionally request a meeting place that is convenient for all parties. The private lessons are conducted in our company vehicle. Although we have never had an accident with a student driver, for safety purposes all vehicles are all-wheel-drive, and are equipped with an instructor-side brake pedal, antilock brakes, driver and passenger side airbags, and side impact/curtain airbags. All driving lessons are conducted in three-hour increments (unless a special needs situation exists). A minimum of six hours is required to get a discount on your car insurance, but the vast majority of our students select a third appointment which includes a refresher lesson and the PennDOT driving license test. If you purchase additional hours, we can do more advanced driver training, such as driving into downtown Pittsburgh. Any lessons over the standard 3-appointments are discounted. Driving lessons are conducted seven days a week, year-round (major holidays excluded). Upon receipt of your registration, release form, and tuition payment, you will be contacted by phone to schedule these appointments. The standard curriculum for the 6-hour course includes following lessons Winding country roads (with narrow lanes, no shoulder, no center lines, etc) City streets (with traffic lights, parallel parked cars, cross walks, pedestrians, etc) Arterial/Commercial highway (with high traffic volumes, lane changes, traffic lights, lane use control signs, etc) Interstate highway (practicing entering freeway, reacting to other vehicles that are entering the freeway, passing on the freeway, exiting the freeway, etc) A visit to the PennDOT testing center, where the student will be instructed in parallel parking, as well as the testing routes and expectations of the driving examiner on testing day As you can see, this is a lot to cover in the standard 6-hour course, so unless you will be purchasing additional lessons, we request that the student have a minimum of five hours instruction from parents or other qualified licensed drivers before scheduling the driving lessons. Otherwise, the first hour or two is spent in parking lots, and we will not be able to cover the complete curriculum. If you would like to increase your student's safety beyond the standard 9-hour package with test, then additional lessons can be purchased at a discounted rate. These additional lessons are usually recommended if the parent would like us to do a "preliminary" or "orientation" lesson to introduce them to driving prior to the specific 6-hour course described above, or if the parent and student would like additional practice with parallel parking, parking lots, interstate highways, etc. We also offer "post graduate" lessons for students that want more than the minimum 6-hour course. For these additional lessons, we often take the student into downtown Pittsburgh, or other specific locations and environments that the parents and students would like to experience. Tuition for private driving lessons is $80 per hour, but the more lessons you purchase, the more discount we offer. We also have several driving lesson packages that include the PennDOT Driving Test! Click on the link below and review the package pricing options before registering.) You may register online for driving lessons, or call our office directly at 724-538-4653.

  • ONLINE COURSE

Over the past ten years, we have taught the D.I.A.N.A. driving safety course in hundreds of classes, to thousands of students. However, due to the immense popularity of our Online Driver's Education course, we now offer the Online version exclusively. The student can access the course from their home computer 24 hours a day, seven days a week and work at their own pace. There are several reasons why this course will benefit your entire family, not just the student who will be taking the course. If you wish to receive the driving safety course discount on your car insurance, completion of a 30-hour course will be required. How much will you save? Well most insurance companies apply a 10% discount*, which stays in place until age 25, so just do the math. If the student would like to receive their regular (senior) driving license before age 18, completion of a 30-hour course will be required*. Maximize the protection of your student. I have had students say to me "I already know everything, I just need to learn how to parallel park so I can pas my test". I have to smile when I hear this. When I wanted to become a driving instructor, I had already been driving for 35 years, yet I took a course so that I could pass the Pennsylvania Department of Education exam and obtain my teaching license. Guess what? I learned things that even I had not known! Here is a partial list of the subjects covered. Driving in adverse weather conditions How to avoid collisions with deer How to deal with aggressive drivers and road rage situations What to do if you are involved in a collision Developing Perceptual Skills Making Safe Driving Decisions Backing up The Effects of Alcohol and Drugs on a Person's Ability to Drive Tuition for this course is only $100. A movie and dinner for two will cost you more than $100. Don't you think it would be prudent to invest that money into a course that may not only pay for itself many times over, but will literally help to protect your child for the rest of their lives?

  • DRIVING TEST Normally only the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)

DRIVING TEST Normally, only the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) can conduct the actual driving test and provide your driving license, but as a State licensed Private Driver Training School, Driving In A New America (D.I.A.N.A.) can schedule the PennDOT test for you, and assist you in passing it. We also have access to a testing facility that is independent of PennDOT and charges $80 to test at their facility. D.I.A.N.A. package prices will remain the same. Please phone our office for details. Even if you are an experienced driver, don't make the mistake of believing that you can pass your Pennsylvania Driving Test without preparing for it. The fact is that only about 25% pass the first time, and this includes both novice and experienced drivers. If we prepare you for the test and then you take it yourself, the odds of you passing will increase to about 75%. If D.I.A.N.A. actually takes you for the test (with a "refresher" lesson immediately prior to the test) our passing rate is about 90%. If you select a package that includes the PennDOT test, then on the day of the test we will give an additional driving lesson that is specifically designed as an enhancement to your previous driving lessons, and will greatly improve your chances of passing. This lesson will be approximately 1.5 hours in length. We then allot an additional 1.5 hours to drive to the testing center, park, walk into the PennDOT office, take a number, wait to be checked in by the PennDOT personnel, wait to take the test, take the test, wait to have the photo taken, wait to receive the new driving license, and drive home. We will remain with the student up until the point where the PennDOT examiner begins your actual test. We guarantee that our instructors will teach the student absolutely everything that they need to know to pass the driving test the very first time, and it is then up to the student to do what we teach them.
