Overview

Soon after the first automobiles appeared on American roads, drivers began organizing automobile clubs. In 1902, when the country had just 23,000 cars compared to 17 million horses, representatives from 50 local motor clubs gathered in Chicago on March 4 to establish the American Automobile Association. More than a century later, AAA remains dedicated to advancing the future of transportation by supporting safe, efficient highways and a multi-modal network that is accessible and affordable to all. Through partnerships with motoring organizations worldwide, AAA provides member benefits in more than 130 countries across six continents. As a not-for-profit, fully tax-paying organization, AAA serves over 59 million members throughout the United States and Canada. We exist for our members and judge everything we do by how well it serves their needs.
