The story of AAA began almost as soon as the first motorcars rolled onto American roads. Back in 1902, just 23,000 automobiles shared the streets with 17 million horses, yet a passion for driving was already bringing people together. That year, on March 4, fifty small motor clubs from across the country gathered in Chicago and formed the American Automobile Association. For over a century, AAA has stayed true to its original mission: shaping the future of transportation by championing safe, efficient highways and a connected, multi-modal travel system that stays accessible and affordable for all. Today, AAA supports members wherever they go – offering benefits in 130 countries across six continents through partnerships with motoring clubs worldwide. We are a fully tax-paying, not-for-profit organization made up of motor clubs that serve more than 59 million members throughout the United States and Canada. *We exist for our members.
