Cantor’s Driving School
Training families since 1976
Overview
Allan Cantor founded Cantor’s Driving School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1976. While working as a history teacher and disciplinarian at West Philadelphia’s Overbrook High School, he began teaching students to drive during evenings and weekends. His reputation spread quickly, and soon he was training teens across the area.
Allan was widely recognized as an exceptional instructor. His upbeat, approachable style put students at ease, and he was known to occasionally pause lessons for a classic Philadelphia cheesesteak—a thoughtful touch students genuinely appreciated. While times have certainly changed since the 1970s, the school’s core mission remains unchanged: a steadfast commitment to family, community, and safety.
As demand grew, Cantor’s Driving School expanded into the surrounding Philadelphia suburbs. When Allan’s youngest son, Frank, joined the business, he learned his father’s proven teaching methods firsthand. Under Frank’s leadership, the school grew to serve students in four states: Pennsylvania, Florida, Nevada, and Arizona.
Today, Frank and his wife, Cheri, proudly own and operate Cantor’s Driving School, continuing its legacy as a family-run business. They remain dedicated to instilling three essential safe-driving principles in every student: respect for the road, consideration for other drivers, and awareness of outside distractions.
