Driving School Association of New Jersey

The Driving School Association of NJ is a statewide group of driving school owners. Our mission is to promote driver safety and uphold high standards for driver education in New Jersey. We’ve built strong relationships with lobbyists over the years, and we now serve as a trusted resource for state legislators. We hold several meetings each year, including an annual banquet. Guest speakers have included congressmen, senators, and the head of the DMV. We also invite companies that offer benefits to driving school owners — such as insurance representatives, dual-control vehicle providers, and motivational speakers. These meetings are an invaluable source of industry information. The Association gives owners a chance to connect and discuss business challenges. It’s an open forum where members can raise concerns and bring industry issues to our attention. Many problems have been quickly resolved through conversation or a direct call from our president. Our meetings also keep members informed about changing laws. In the past, the Association has fought off several bills that would have severely harmed driving schools. One bill, which nearly passed, would have removed the behind-the-wheel training requirement for 16-year-old drivers. That would have meant serious safety risks and devastating business losses. The Association stepped in and stopped it — protecting both public safety and the future of driver education. For the public, DSANJ is a resource for defensive driving classroom courses. We refer individuals to our registered member schools offering classes nearby. Our phone lines are open for driving-related questions, and we welcome feedback — both compliments and constructive comments — about driving schools across New Jersey.
