Contact First Time Driving School and complete registration forms along with DMV requirements. FTDS will go to DMV for you to process the permit. Most driving schools will take their students to DMV for the permit, which can be a costly and time consuming process. We do the processing on our time and at no cost to you. Once we have your permit and upon having passed the written test in your High School or if you need our written test service, and passing the eye exam, the lessons can begin. Lessons are available 7 days/week with free door-to-door pickup. At the start of your first lesson the instructor will introduce the many functions of the vehicle and prepare the student for on-the-road driving. The on-the-road driving will be presented based on what is best for the students progress and to maximize their development. Upon completion of the lessons the student will receive a validated permit, with a scheduled road test appointment (take advantage of our road test service) and a certificate of completion for your insurance company. Our rates are among the lowest in N.J. We work with many H.S. and you may qualify for a discounted rate. Contact First Time Driving School for rates in your area.

Road Test
We have new Road Test vehicles with back-up camera. The student will be picked up, given a thorough explanation of the Road Test, put behind-the-wheel to practice a simulated test. Wait in the DMV road test line (regardless of the wait time). Take the DMV Road Test in our vehicle. Because of the possible computer issues and often extensive wait time to process a license at the DMV agency, FTDS is unable to assist with the processing of the license. The student can be taken to the processing line and will then have to be picked up, or the student can be taken back home and go to any DMV Agency and process at a later time. It is important to prepare and practice all the required test skills.
