Overview

I’m Michael Hagen, owner and instructor at Drivability Driving School. I’ve been teaching students to drive since 2009 and opened our NJMVC-certified location in 2016. Over the years, families across Bergen, Essex, Morris, and Passaic Counties have trusted us to guide their new drivers. As both an instructor and business owner, I take pride in creating a calm, safe, and supportive environment behind the wheel. My background as a high school physical education, health, and driver’s education teacher taught me how essential mutual trust is in the learning process. That same principle guides our approach to teen driver training. Every Drivability instructor holds full NJMVC certification, having passed thorough background checks, screenings, training, and testing. Our teaching staff also brings years of experience working with teenagers as former NJDOE-certified teachers, high school coaches, or law enforcement officers. Learning to drive is an exciting milestone for teens and a nervous one for parents. Our behind-the-wheel program prioritizes safe vehicle operation above all else. By the end of the course, your teenager will have the skills and confidence to drive independently while fully understanding the responsibility that comes with a license. From your initial phone call through the required 6-hour behind-the-wheel training and road test day, my team and I will guide you both to ensure your teen is thoroughly prepared for licensing day. To secure the best availability for your teen’s driving lessons, please contact Drivability Driving School as soon as possible. During our conversation, I will walk you through the entire instruction process, answer your questions, and help you schedule appointments that fit your family’s needs. We are proud to be highly recommended by past students and their parents. A quick note for families with teens turning 16: In New Jersey, students who turn 16 must obtain their learner’s permit through an NJMVC-certified driving school. They also do not need to wait for their high school Driver’s Education class to finish before taking the Knowledge (Written) Test. Drivability Driving School can prepare your teen and accompany them to the NJMVC to take the exam. Thank you for considering Drivability. I look forward to speaking with you soon. Sincerely, Michael Hagen Supervising Instructor & Owner
