Our main goal at Main Street Driving School is to provide top-quality instruction at an affordable price. We teach students to be safe, responsible, defensive drivers — not just to pass the road test, but to truly master the skills that keep them safe for life. There’s a big difference between passing a test and driving defensively, and we focus on both.

Our instructors are mature, highly trained, and licensed by the State of New Jersey. Owner Michael Tivey previously taught defensive driving in the classroom and holds the qualifications to teach driver education at the high school level. We’re always working to improve our teaching methods.

For 16-year-olds, the six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction follows a state-mandated MVC curriculum that gives students real-world driving experience. If our efforts help prevent an accident or save a life, it’s all worth it.

Remember: Driving is one of the riskiest things we do on a regular basis. When choosing a driving school, don’t base your decision on cost alone. Look for a strong reputation, great customer service, and quality instruction — your child’s safety is in the instructor’s hands.

We teach adult drivers the same way: to be safe, courteous, and defensive behind the wheel. While we give pointers for passing the road test, our goal is to build a foundation of skills that will last a lifetime. If we only taught to pass the test, that’s all you’d get. But with true driving instruction, you gain confidence and habits that stay with you for years.
