Locally owned by Chip Hayssen and Jim and Cindy Thienes, Safeway Driving School is staffed by 55 licensed instructors, including certified teachers and former law enforcement professionals.
We deliver professional classroom and behind-the-wheel training using a curriculum modeled after AAA’s “Learn to Drive” program and approved by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. Safety is our top priority: every vehicle in our fleet undergoes regular maintenance and inspections. Our cars are all white with consistent exterior branding to ensure maximum visibility and security on the road.
After carefully evaluating local options, 14 community education departments have chosen Safeway to teach driving skills to their students.
We are fully licensed, bonded, and insured by the State of Minnesota. We proudly hold membership in the Driving School Association of the Americas, are founding members of the Minnesota Driving School Association, and actively support the state’s Towards Zero Deaths safety campaign.
