Overview
At Kens Driving School, we are dedicated to helping you earn your driver’s license at a reasonable price. Our patient instructors specialize in preparing students for the road test, and we are familiar with every testing location across the Twin Cities. We will gladly drive you to the site where you feel most at ease. We offer driver education for adults, teens, and homeschool students.
Passing the road test requires both practical skill and a strong understanding of traffic laws, and our team knows exactly how to prepare you for success. With over 22 years of combined teaching experience, our instructors have successfully trained drivers from around the globe. We frequently work with adult learners from India, China, Vietnam, Burma, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Cameroon, and Kenya, and we proudly partner with numerous nonprofit and self-sufficiency programs. Thanks to our proven methods, we maintain a high student passing rate and would be honored to help you succeed, too.

Teenagers Classroom
The state of Minnesota requires if you’re under 18 years of age you have to do 30 hours of classroom training and be signed up in an approved behind the wheel course. In our classroom we teach 10 different classes. We teach out of the Minnesota driver’s manual. Lesson #1 Your License to Drive Lesson #2 Your Vehicle Lesson #3 Traffic Laws and Vehicle Operation Lesson #4 Sharing the Road Lesson #5 Signs, Signals, and Pavement Markings Lesson #6 Driving Conditions Lesson #7 Your Driving Privileges Lesson #8 Impaired Driving Lesson #9 Insurance on your Vehicle Lesson #10 Practice Permit Test and Review and give blue card

Teenager Behind the Wheel
The state of Minnesota requires 6 hours of behind the wheel training for students under 18 years of age. We teach 3 lessons 2 hours each lesson. We teach “one on one “ lessons. One student, One instructor. Lesson #1 We go through the dashboard and instruments of the car Go over the equipment demonstration that’s required on the first road test Introduction to parallel, 90-degree backing, and hill parking Practice stopping and starting smoothly Practice when to signal and perform right and left turns properly Changing lanes correctly Observation and consideration of pedestrians and other drivers Lesson #2 We practice merging on to the freeway How to use the acceleration lane and deceleration lane Keeping a safe following distance Downtown driving Driving on one-way streets back to two-way streets How to go through roundabouts correctly Lesson #3 We go downtown and review the one-way streets Practice parallel, 90-degree backing, hill, and curb parking Go over what you need to do to pass road test Give white card
