Basic Rider Course (BRC): This hands on course is for new or returning riders who want to get their license and learn to ride safely. We’ll teach you practical skills and techniques like
slow speed maneuvers, clutch control, cornering, avoiding obstacles and stopping quickly. These are lifesaving skills. This course consists of an online class through Motorcycle Safety Foundation which takes approximately three hours with a test at the end, the completion of the online course is mandatory with the completion certificate being required on the first day of the course. You will then attend an interactive portion of classroom at our facility for approximately five hours along with riding 14 different exercises on the motorcycle for approximately 10 hours. We provide the training bikes and you just bring some basic safety gear. By passing the riding exercise evaluations and written test for the BRC at our range you will leave with a ‘Course Completion Card’ which will waiver you for the road test and written test at DMV. Just head to your local DMV where they will stamp your license with the motorcycle endorsement and you are licensed to ride!

Women's Only & Group
At A & J Motorcycle Safety School we have been offering Women’s only classes for 9 years. We recognized a need early on after several women said they would feel even more comfortable learning with other women. During our first year of operation we started offering women’s only classes and they quickly sell out. As with all MSF Basic Rider Courses there is a minimum & maximum amount of students. For the Women’s only we limit the maximum to 10 providing a ratio of 5 students to 1 instructor. Many students in the Women’s Only Course have never ridden before the class or have been a passenger who’s ready to move up to the front. We understand that anxiety may be high and confidence a bit low starting out. By the end of the weekend the goal is to flip that to higher confidence and lower anxiety. We offer the women’s only class on the last weekend of April, June and August. The course runs 2 days and typically starts at 9am and goes to 6pm both Saturday & Sunday. During the busiest time of the training season (April, May & June) there may be an additional class being held on the same weekend, however the classes are totally separate and your comfort and privacy is ensured. While this course is designed for someone who has never ridden a motorcycle before it can be helpful if you can already drive a standard car or truck or can ride a bicycle. If you feel you might need a little extra training with clutch control before the class please make an appointment with us for some pre course familiarization with the motorcycle’s clutch and controls. We also have a simulator where you can practice using the clutch in real time without moving an inch. You’re also welcome to stop by while a class is underway. Please call first to ensure there is a class going on and let us know so we can have someone available to show you around and explain what you will see at the range.

3 Wheel Basic Rider Course
This class is the best place for a new rider to start once they’ve made the decision to ride a 3-wheel motorcycle. Three wheel bikes handle very differently from their two wheel counterparts. This course includes four hours of classroom activities and up to eight hours of on-cycle riding exercises. Successful completion may lead to an insurance discount. A person must pass a knowledge and skill test for successful completion. Upon successful completion you’ll receive a course completion card that you’ll take to the DMV so they can add the motorcycle endorsement. A & J Motorcycle Safety School has a 3-wheel motorcycle (a 2010 Can-Am Spyder) you may use for your class with an additional fee. Please call for details and availability is based on first come first served. If you bring your own bike you must provide proof of insurance, a current inspection sticker as well as proof of registration. If the bike is on loan to you a letter from the owner with a copy of their registration must accompany the letter giving you permission to use their bike as well as the other items listed above. The bike cannot have any fluid leaks because it will not be allowed on the range.
