A and J Motorcycle Safety School

Founded in 2007 by a veteran, A&J Riding School set out to create a relaxed, safe place for anyone to learn to ride—and to make motorcycle training as accessible as possible. The first class was held in a converted school bus in the parking lot of a local middle school. In 2009, the school purchased land in Bucksport and built a permanent training facility, making it possible to offer classes six days a week instead of only on weekends. Since then, the school has grown steadily, and nearly 4,000 students have trained with A&J so far. Our instructors are Maine State Licensed Motorcycle Safety Instructors who complete a demanding nine-day training program with a fairly high attrition rate. They recertify every two years through the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and renew their state license annually. Together, our team brings over 220 years of combined riding experience on every kind of motorcycle: mini bikes, dirt bikes, sport bikes, dual-sports, café racers, cruisers, sport-touring bikes, baggers, and full dressers.
