Overview
Founded in 2004 by a veteran police officer with over 25 years of law enforcement experience, I Drive Smart began with just five cars and 12 part‑time instructors teaching classes in Maryland. Today, we have more than 140 instructors, a fleet of distinctive yellow cars, and thousands of graduates across Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia, and California who proudly call themselves I Drive Smart alumni.
We believe that teaching and mentoring new drivers is a shared responsibility—a partnership among parents, the community, and our team. Over 75,000 client families agree that no other driver education program matches the experience our industry‑leading instructors deliver.
