Overview
Since 1968, our driving school has proudly served Columbia and Greene Counties. True to our community roots, our owners and instructors have always been local residents. Shirley and Al Kasper ran the business for 15 years, teaching classes and lessons themselves with help from their daughter, Linda, and Philip Abitabile. In 1998, Shirley and Al transitioned into semi-retirement and sold the school to Linda and her husband, Jim, along with Phil and his wife, Christine. Phil became the sole owner in 2006. With traffic safety education experience dating back to the 1970s, Phil brings decades of expertise to the road. He spent 10 years as an instructor for the Drinking Driver Education class and is a certified Driver Education teacher for public schools.

Training Programs

5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course
(MV-278) Upon successful completion of this five hour course, each student will receive an MV-278 which is required before scheduling and taking the road test. You must provide the certificate number when you schedule your road test. The pre-licensing class is generally taught EVERY Saturday Morning at 8 am.

6-Hour Point and Insurance Reduction Program (PIRP)
This course fulfills all requirements for the Point Insurance Reduction Program (PIRP) and is accepted by all New York insurance companies and is taught by instructors that are certified by the Empire Safety Council. Classes are taught monthly in the evening from 6 to 9 PM (3 hours each night).
