Overview

In June 1972, Abe Busada and M. B. Chastain founded Diesel Driving Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana. Early training took place on an airstrip in DeSoto Parish near Mansfield, with just one truck and trailer — but the academy grew rapidly. Students from all over the state, especially the Baton Rouge area, began traveling to Shreveport to earn their CDLs. In July 1987, DDA opened a second campus in Baton Rouge. Its immediate success led to a third campus in Jacksonville, Arkansas, just north of Little Rock, which moved to its current Little Rock location in April 2009.
