Overview

Family-owned since 1982 and formerly known as Sears Driving School, Bi State is committed to helping students of all ages and abilities earn their driver’s license. We proudly teach students from age 14 to 87 and maintain a pass rate of over 90%. As a family that includes a daughter, granddaughter, and other relatives with dwarfism and disabilities, we understand firsthand the life-changing independence that comes with being able to drive. Serving both Kansas and Missouri, we offer full driving programs, individual lessons, and court-ordered courses. Beginners are welcome to enroll with zero prior experience, though state law does require a valid learner’s permit or license for any behind-the-wheel training. Training Programs

  • Kansas State Certified Program

    The Kansas State Certified Program consist of 2/4 hour classroom and 3/2-hour driving lessons. Students will begin with a permit test and once they have passed, we will provide a temporary permit to use or take to the Department of Motor Vehicles or have changed to plastic. Student then will transfer the knowledge of the class program into their 1 on 1 driving lessons. During the last 20 minutes of the final lesson, they will take a final testing. When student pass both portions of the program we can then issue a Certificate of Completion to take to the Department of Motor Vehicles and obtain the age appropriate license.   • Individual Driving Lessons

    Individual lessons are 2 hour sessions 1 on 1 with an instructor, students may purchase as many as are needed. The lessons do require a valid permit or license and payment at the time of booking your lesson. We do pick up and drop off at home if within our service area or we meet in a prearranged location. Kansas and Missouri students welcome, students will need to take their own testing at the Department of Motor Vehicles. Call (913) 648-3452 or email info@bistatedrivingschool.com

  • Court Ordered Classes or Tickets

    Students that have tickets or Court Ordered issues, many courts require them to take a driving program. The Courts requirements may vary, we suggest that student's contact the court and request what the courts requirements are that can fix their driving issues. We offer programs that can help with most issues except DUI's that are usually handled by the court and Department of Motor Vehicles only.   • Missouri Programs

    Missouri has strict laws on obtaining a license and requires students to take both their permit and driving testing at the Department of Motor Vehicles. We do offer our individual lessons and can provide a full program. The Missouri program has 2/4-hour classroom sessions and 3/2-hour driving lessons for the same as Kansas. We cannot include a certificate to take to the Department of Motor Vehicles, but we can provide the testings as practice test. These practice test prepare the students to be able to pass their own testing at the DMV.
