Overview

The idea for DRIVE509 took root while I was working for a food delivery company. Like a lot of folks, I started on the night shift as a warehouse picker. It wasn't my dream job, but it was a foot in the door and a paycheck to support my family. Over time, I worked my way into a driving role, delivering products throughout the Northwest, and eventually became a lead driver—training new hires and managing both drivers and customer relationships. After a decade with the company, I realized my real passion wasn't just driving; it was teaching others to drive. Training gave me a deep sense of satisfaction and purpose. It felt meaningful to help people land a job that would allow them to provide for their families, and to know I was putting skilled, quality CDL drivers on the road—professionals who keep this country moving. That clarity pushed me to take a leap of faith. I stepped out on my own to build a company focused entirely on delivering superior CDL training.

  • Class A Training

    A Class A CDL License is needed to operate any combination of vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds provided the GVWR of the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds. Vehicles requiring a Class A CDL license are primarily tractor-trailers driving long distances.

  • Class B Training

    A Class B CDL License is needed to operate any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds. Vehicles requiring a Class B CDL license may include buses, dump trucks, tow trucks, delivery trucks and garbage trucks.

  • CDL Refresher Course

    The amount of work that goes into driving a commercial truck is pretty crazy. As a CDL holder, you probably already know that. If you don’t use your CDL for a period of time, it’s easy to forget skills and laws that dictate your time on the road. Unfortunately, going too long without a truck driving job may make companies hesitant to hire you.
