Aloha Parents! Driver’s education has come a long way since we were new drivers. When I earned my instructor certification, I was amazed by how much instruction has advanced. Back in our day, you just drove until you got it right — which often meant a few bumps, dents, or scratches on Mom and Dad’s car. You’ve probably never heard terms like reference points, precision driving, point of no return, targeting, or stale green lights — they didn’t exist back then. These newer methods were created to help new drivers handle today’s faster, more hurried roads. Driving feels second nature to us now, but for a beginner it can be scary and nerve-wracking. Once your teen masters these skills, they’ll be on their way to becoming SAFE and COURTEOUS drivers. Beyond hands-on training, we also cover road rage, drugs and alcohol, drowsy driving, distractions inside the car, and more.
