Right Start

Right Start is a privately-owned, classroom-based defensive driving school committed to equipping drivers with the knowledge, techniques, and safe driving practices needed to reduce traffic violations, collisions, injuries, and fatalities—both in our community and nationwide. Located in historic downtown Macon, Georgia, we provide a thorough, upscale learning experience in a professional, safe, and comfortable environment. Our certified instructors teach the National Safety Council’s Alive at 25, Defensive Driving Course 4-Hour, and Defensive Driving Course 6-Hour, serving drivers from all five driving groups. - Alive at 25 and Defensive Driving Course 4-Hour: The Certificate of Completion may be used to meet court-ordered requirements for certain traffic violations. - Defensive Driving Course 4-Hour: This certificate also qualifies for employee safety training credits for fleet drivers—including vans, buses, taxis, and service and utility vehicles used by small businesses and corporations. - Defensive Driving Course 6-Hour: Your certificate can earn you an insurance premium reduction through participating insurance companies and agents. Right Start opened on Friday, February 21, 2014, in memory of Jeremy Dernard Israel, Sr., on the fourth anniversary of his passing. A former elementary school student of Right Start’s owner, Jeremy was riding north on Georgia SR 127 with fellow motorcyclists when one rider pulled to the roadside near SR 128 and made a U-turn. Jeremy clipped the other motorcycle’s rear tire and was thrown from his bike around 4:15 PM. He passed away shortly after the accident.
