Risk Reduction ( DUI)
Georgia’s risk reduction course is comprised of two components the Assessment Component (Needs Assessment) and the Intervention Component. Students must complete both the Assessment and Intervention Components to receive a Certificate of Completion. The Assessment Component is completed first. It is a 130 question comprehensive screening instrument used to evaluate the extent of an individual’s alcohol and drug use and its impact on driving. The Intervention Component is administered after completion of the Assessment Component. The state of Georgia uses the Prime for Life program which is a motivational intervention to prevent alcohol and drug problems or provide early intervention. It is a 20 hour course comprised of several sessions covering several days and delivered in a group environment. The component is designed to offer therapeutic education and peer group learning centering on alcohol and drug use and its effect on driving.

Driver Improvement Classes/ Defensive Driving Course
We offer the 6 hour classes required by the courts. In this class, our well trained instructors share with you the techniques necessary to operate a vehicle safely and responsibly. The goal of our National Safety Council’s Defensive Driving Course is to provide drivers with knowledge and safe driving techniques to prevent collisions and violations. The courses focus on collision prevention through hazard recognition and the application of collision-avoidance techniques. In addition, the course addresses violations and instructs how to change driving habits to eliminate moving violations. Our goal is to challenge participants to change their behind-the-wheel behaviors and attitudes so they choose to drive safely, responsibly and lawfully. Our students leave the classroom equipped with skills to help them do this.

Often when an individual is charged with a DUI (or any other drug or alcohol related charge), they will be required either by a judge, attorney, or probation officer to undergo an evaluation. However, other charges may also require clinical evaluations. We offer them here at A Better Choice Driving School. Some clients hesitate doing a Drug and Alcohol Evaluation because they fear that they will automatically be recommended for treatment. But this is not the case for everyone.
