Overview

Every one of our instructors goes through a rigorous hiring process that starts with an in-depth interview before they even enter our training program. That program spans three weeks of classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction, so by the end, each instructor has a firm grasp of effective teaching methods, traffic laws, rules of the road, and defensive driving techniques. After completing our initial training, every instructor must pass a state exam administered by the Georgia Department of Driver Services. The department also runs a thorough background check—including fingerprinting and photo submission to the GBI and FBI—and we require every instructor to hold and maintain a clean driving record. Taggart’s Driving School is the only school in the country to create a dedicated training video for each of our roughly 20 lessons. Our instructors learn the videos before they ever teach, giving them a consistent blueprint for delivering outstanding instruction. We also use the videos as an ongoing review to make sure every instructor stays aligned with our high teaching standards and methods. We choose our instructors carefully. Beyond skill, we look for people of strong character, sound judgment, a clear sense of purpose, and a genuine enjoyment in working with others. Our training vehicles are well maintained and equipped with an exclusive dual-steering-wheel, dual-brake, and dual-gas-pedal system. With controls on both sides, instructors can easily demonstrate maneuvers, which helps students learn faster and often reduces the number of lessons needed to become a safe, competent defensive driver. Our students are protected by a $1,000,000 basic automobile liability policy, along with an additional $2,000,000 umbrella policy. Every training car features top-mounted safety signs designed specifically for our school. These signs give other drivers extra visual warning when a student is slowing down, stopping, or changing lanes, and they help fellow motorists be more patient and understanding when they notice a student behind the wheel. All Taggart’s Driving School locations are licensed by the Georgia Department of Driver Services to teach the six-hour Driver Improvement Program, provide assessments, teach the 20-hour classroom program, and schedule clinical evaluations for individuals required to participate in DUI/Drug Risk Reduction programs.
