Jeffrey “Homer” Stillwell is a nationally recognized professional driving instructor who travels across the country teaching students, parents, and fellow instructors how to avoid, navigate, and survive emergency driving situations. His signature Accident Avoidance Workshops trace their origins to 1994, when Jeffrey founded Stillwell Racing Enterprises Inc. Known for its immersive, reality-driven approach to driver education, his program has trained thousands of participants from Washington, D.C., to Arizona. Jeffrey’s expertise has made him a trusted partner for teen driving safety organizations and foundations nationwide. He has led vehicle handling programs at Bristol Motor Speedway, consulted on the development of the National Defensive Driving Academy of Arizona, and delivered the keynote address at the 2011 Southeastern Safety Conference in Kingsport, Tennessee. Before dedicating himself to driver education, Jeffrey worked as a Suspension System Analyst and Vehicle Handling Specialist at the Atlanta headquarters of Carrera Racing Shocks. In this role, he designed suspension systems for race cars and street rods and partnered with the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth to upgrade the suspension systems on high-speed law enforcement pursuit vehicles. His automotive background includes serving as Crew Chief for a Sports Car Club of America GT1 Camaro in Jacksonville, Florida, holding a NASCAR Mechanic’s License since 1987, and working as a track announcer at Bristol Motor Speedway. He also brings fifteen years of experience in the automotive parts industry. To better connect with his students and advance his research in accident reconstruction, Jeffrey returned to college and earned a degree in Mathematics with a focus on secondary education. Affectionately known as “Uncle Homer” by the families he teaches, Jeffrey has truly found his calling. Students and parents consistently leave his workshops with a safer, more confident approach to the road, and many actually look forward to practicing the life-saving techniques he teaches.
