Cantor’s Driving School got its start in 1976 when Allan Cantor opened the first location in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A father of four, Allan was a history teacher and disciplinarian at Overbrook High School in West Philadelphia. He began teaching students to drive part-time and on weekends, and before long, he’d taught nearly every teen in the area. Allan quickly became the go-to driving instructor around. His warm personality and easy way with students set him apart. Stopping for a famous Philadelphia cheesesteak during a lesson wasn’t unusual—and it was the kind of thing his students loved. Sure, it was the 1970s and times have changed, but Cantor’s Driving School has always been built on family, community, and safety. Over the years, the school expanded into the Philadelphia suburbs, and as Allan’s children grew up, his youngest son Frank joined the family business. Frank learned what it takes to be a great instructor from his father, and he went on to grow Cantor’s Driving School into four states: Pennsylvania, Florida, Nevada, and Arizona. Today, Frank Cantor owns and runs the school with his wife Cheri, carrying on the tradition of a family-owned and operated business. Their commitment is to teach every student the cornerstones of safe driving: respect for the road, respect for other drivers, and awareness of distractions. --- Becoming a new driver is a big responsibility. Instructors undergo thorough background checks, meet all state requirements, and are former police officers. That means you, or your loved one, will learn the most current techniques, laws, and safe-driving standards. Our students learn about the dangers on the road, the dangers inside the car, how to avoid distractions, the latest driving laws, and the key principles of safe driving.
