Overview

Our program builds on the driving knowledge you already have. You will learn proven defensive driving techniques while evaluating your personal habits and goals. We cover essential best practices, including how to avoid common driver errors, stay alert to changing road conditions, and understand the serious consequences of impaired driving. The curriculum also addresses key risk factors that impact Virginia drivers, such as road aggression, fatigue, and effective hazard monitoring. This driver improvement clinic is the right choice if you: - Have been directed by the DMV to complete an 8-hour driver improvement program - Are required or recommended by a court to attend a driving clinic - Want to earn five safe driving points on your license - Are looking to lower your auto insurance premiums - Need to complete a course before an upcoming court date Dominion Driver Improvement is fully licensed by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles and uses the National Safety Council’s Defensive Driving Course. Introduced in 1964, this nationally recognized program sets the standard for driver training and has demonstrated the highest success rate in reducing both the frequency and severity of traffic collisions, along with their associated costs. Our clinic meets all state licensing requirements and is accepted by Virginia courts. We are also proud that the National Safety Council recognized Dominion as a nationally award-winning program from 2014 through 2017.

  • Dominion Driver Improvement Program: Virginia DMV requires that every student

we usually report this information the evening of the day you complete your class. You receive a Certificate of Completion on the same day that you pass the clinic. Class hours are 9 am to at 5:30 pm. There is a 1/2 hour lunch break, in accordance with DMV regulations. DMV requires clinics to extend the day if any additional breaks are given beyond the required 30 minute lunch period, so we work through the day without additional breaks. Informal polling of our students indicates this is the preferred approach. If you have any concerns about breaks, please contact us. All classes are held in hotel conference facilities see the Locations page for more information.
