Golden Crown Dutchess Driving School has been licensed by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles since 1978. For over 30 years, we have helped students learn to drive safely and build lasting confidence behind the wheel. Serving the Wappingers Falls area, we offer professional, private lessons tailored to your individual needs. Whether you are a beginner, an experienced driver looking to refine advanced techniques, or a student with disabilities who requires specialized instruction, our highly trained staff is here to support you. Our training focuses on practical road skills, including step-by-step guidance for parallel parking, three-point turns, and comprehensive road test preparation. We also offer the state-mandated 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course and in-vehicle assessments for drivers who need a skill re-evaluation. All lessons are conducted in modern vehicles equipped with dual-controlled brakes. With flexible scheduling available six days a week, our top priority is to equip you with the skills and confidence needed to pass your road test and become a safe, responsible driver.

Training Programs

  • 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Class

    In order to schedule a road test appointment, you must first complete an approved pre-licensing safe driving course available at Golden Crown Dutchess Driving school . All drivers must complete this requirement by taking a special five-hour course available at our driving school. After you take the course, you will receive a certificate to present when you make your road test appointment. The certificate is valid for one year.

  • Defensive Driving Course

    The Point & Insurance Reduction Program (PIRP), approved by the Department of Motor Vehicles, is available through private companies or corporations, called “course sponsors,” throughout New York State. Each qualifying course must meet strict standards for the safe driving information presented and program effectiveness. If you complete an approved PIRP course, it will help refresh your driving knowledge with a review of time-tested safe driving tips and an overview of today’s vehicle and traffic laws. You may be eligible to reduce as many as four (4) points on your driving record. The DMV computer will automatically note your eligibility to receive the reduction. If you are the principal operator of a motor vehicle, you will receive a minimum 10% reduction in the base rate of your automobile and motorcycle liability and collision insurance premiums each year for three years.

  • Pre-Road Test Lessons

    This is very important for all students, no matter what your age is. It is important because it helps you warm up before your road test and we help correct any bad habbits you may have before your driving test so you can pass the road test the first time!
