Overview

Whether you want to sharpen everyday driving skills, launch a professional motorsport career, or add advanced techniques as an experienced driver, the Bridgestone Winter Driving School gives you the most effective training environment there is. Top drivers in drifting, rally, and virtually every form of road racing share one critical experience: they’ve trained on ice and snow. They understand that slippery surfaces magnify poor habits—one misstep can send you off the road. Master driving on ice, and every other surface becomes far easier. On ice, you can feel exactly how weight transfer influences your car’s behavior and leads to skids. At our school, you’ll learn to correct those skids and, more importantly, to use weight transfer to your advantage in any situation. Compared with pavement, ice training lets you sense the car’s movements with greater timing, sensitivity, and precision. Think of your vehicle as a responsive tool, and yourself as a craftsman. If you want to develop true mastery behind the wheel, there’s no better classroom. Driving is both an art and a critical responsibility. The quickest route to improvement lies in expert coaching, deliberate practice, and genuine commitment. Your skill level can make the difference for your safety and the safety of your family and everyone else on the road. If you’re serious about getting better, we’re here to help you reach your goals with the best coaches and facilities available. The Bridgestone Winter Driving School is the real thing. We never use hydraulic skid cars that arbitrarily lose grip, and no instructor pulls a handbrake to fake a skid in a parking lot. Modeled after Europe’s great ice driving schools, ours is the only one of its kind in North America. Whether you need winter driving fundamentals or a taste of performance rally techniques, we have a program that fits. Over the past 30‑plus years, more than 83,000 participants—ages 15 to 87—have completed our courses. Our graduates include everyday drivers, corporate employees sent for risk reduction and safety training, law enforcement officers from over 20 states, the Secret Service, the FBI, and professional racers preparing for competition. Whatever your objective, we’ll help you unlock your full potential. Three purpose‑built ice‑ and snow‑covered circuits in beautiful Steamboat Springs, Colorado, offer elevation changes, banked and off‑camber corners, and continuously changing surfaces that challenge drivers at every level. Our instructors are seasoned professionals with deep experience in performance rally, autocross, touring car, hill climbing, ice racing, Formula Ford, Formula 2000, World Challenge, precision driving, and many other disciplines. Toyota serves as the official vehicle supplier, and every car rides on Bridgestone Blizzak tires to deliver the ideal balance of safety and performance. All vehicles remain mechanically unmodified, and every surface is genuine frozen water or snow—zero artificial low‑traction gimmicks. Our school has been featured by ABC News, Better Homes & Gardens, CNN, Denver Life, Good Morning America, HDTV, Men’s Health, Motor Trend, MSNBC, Nightline, Real Simple, Ski Magazine, Steamboat Magazine, The Today Show, The Weather Channel, and dozens of newspapers and radio shows across the country.
