At 1st Drive, we make learning to drive comfortable and personal. Our small class sizes mean you get more one-on-one attention. We specialize in teen driving lessons and offer the added convenience of picking students up for their sessions. We’re a locally owned school with an A+ Better Business Bureau rating, located just 2.4 miles south of Chapel Hills Mall, so it’s easy to get started.

  • Online Home Study

    Ideal for the active teenager that is 14 years 7 months (or older) and whose sports or other activities make it hard for them to commit to 5 days in a classroom. (Optional for teens who are older than 15 years 6 months). This "Parent Lead - Web Based" Home study program includes eveything your teen needs to complete this program. Program includes Videos, Articles, Activities, Review Tests, Final Test, and Practice Permit Tests. Includes a free, in-office, permit test. To be eligible for the permit test, the student must present a photo ID (ex school ID, military dependent ID, state ID), be within 30 days of their 15th birthday or older and have pre-registered with the DMV. (Students without a photo ID will be required to test at the DMV). Upon completion of the course and/or passing the permit test, parents will be emailed applicable completion documents.

  • 30 Hour Class

    Mandatory for all teens that want to be eligible for a learner's permit prior to reaching 16 years old (optional for teens 16 - 18). Teens must be at least 14 years 7 months - 18 to attend this course and still be in high school. Includes a free, in-office, permit test. To be eligible for the permit test, the student must present a photo ID (school ID is OK), be within 30 days of their 15th birthday or older and have pre-registered with the DMV. (Students without a photo ID will be required to test at the DMV). Upon completion of the course and/or passing the permit test, parents will be emailed applicable completion documents.

  • Teen Driving Lessons - 2 Hours

    Driving instructor will ensure the student is driving correctly (no bad habits) and will make recommendations based upon student's driving performance. Teens must have their permit prior to scheduling any driving lessons. Lessons are scheduled 2 hours at a time with a state approved driving instructor in a 1st Drive vehicle. Student (teen 15 - 18) is picked up at his or her location of choice. Driving lessons are scheduled on a “first called – first scheduled” basis. Our peak periods are Spring break, Summer break, Fall break, Christmas break and school holidays. Parents, please plan ahead as appointments fill quickly during these periods.
