Overview

Sierra College Community Education has been a trusted provider of motorcycle training in the Sacramento Valley since the mid-1980s. Building on its long-standing reputation for excellence, the college has partnered with AAA Motorcycle Training to continue offering the California Motorcycle Safety Program (CMSP) course in coordination with the California Highway Patrol. Mark Lytal serves as the site manager and operator for AAA Motorcycle Training at Sierra College. He has been active in California’s motorcycle safety training industry since the early 1990s and has successfully instructed thousands of new riders. After working at, managing, and owning six training locations across Northern California, Mark now dedicates his experience to serving riders at Sierra College in Rocklin. Drawing on his years of experience as both a rider and an educator, Mark operates on a simple principle: a rider’s attitude is what saves lives. This philosophy inspired the name of his company, All About the Attitude Motorcycle Training. It is a mindset that safety instructors emphasize in every lesson. Welcome to the program, ride safely, and always remember—it’s all about the attitude.

  • Motorcycle Training Course | Over 21

The Motorcycle Training Course (MTC) is a 15 hour course which includes 5 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of actual riding. The MTC is mandatory for those under the age off 21, but is also recommended to those 21 and older who are seeking to obtain a motorcycle endorsement on their California diver's license. In the classroom, you’ll learn about the different types of motorcycles, layout and operation of the basic controls, and how to become a safer, more responsible rider. You’ll review the different types of safety gear worn for protection and comfort, and riding strategies to improve your safety. Next, you’ll move to the riding range and your experienced certified instructor will start you off with straight-line riding, stopping, shifting, and turning. You’ll gradually progress to swerving and emergency braking. The course concludes with a knowledge and skills riding test. Once your instructor hands you the course-completion card, you'll be happy knowing that you’ve gone the extra mile to develop safe riding techniques.
