Overview

How it works: In California, all new drivers must pass a written test and a driving test. If you're under 18, you'll also need to complete a driver education course (classroom or online) and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training. Once you finish both, you'll receive the certificates of completion required by the DMV. You can get your learner's permit at 15½ and your license at 16.

  • Classroom Drivers Education

Required for students under age 18, our Classroom Drivers Education course offers students quality training for safe driving techniques in a unique classroom setting at our office in Grass Valley, California. Our course prepares students to pass the DMV written examination. Our instructor brings over 30 years experience to the table working with both teen and adult students. Our classroom course takes four days to complete (usually, two consecutive weekends). Upon completion of the course, students will be issued a Certificate of Completion. This certificate enables the student(must be at least 15 1/2) to take the written examination at DMV. Once a student passes the written exam they are issued an Instruction Permit. At the first lesson behind-the-wheel the instructor signs and dates the permit activating it for the student to legally practice with a licensed driver 25 years and older.
