HomeSafe Driving School is a family-owned driving school in Costa Mesa, California, owned and operated by Brad and Ali McDermott. Brad brings over 20 years of professional road safety experience as a CHP-certified school bus driver and a U.S. Marine Corps heavy equipment operator. Combined with more than 25 years of mentoring young people as a youth pastor, baseball coach, and ski instructor, he is uniquely equipped to teach responsibility and judgment alongside vehicle operation. A Vanguard University graduate and certified Culture ROI trainer, Brad also serves as Lead Pastor at a local Costa Mesa church. After nearly two decades in the automotive industry, Ali stepped away from the corporate world to focus on her family. Today, she manages the HomeSafe office and keeps our daily operations running smoothly. We intentionally keep our schedule small to ensure every student receives personalized attention. As a family-run business, we are committed to providing top-tier instruction and genuine care for every teen who joins us. Our mission is straightforward: train your student to drive responsibly and arrive home safely, every time. True safety extends far beyond technical skill. A confident driver pairs solid vehicle control with sharp focus, situational awareness, and respect for everyone on the road. Our program blends hands-on behind-the-wheel training with interactive, values-based lessons that help students build the right mindset behind the wheel. We cover all the fundamentals thoroughly, but we go further. We guide teens past basic traffic rules and help them grow into thoughtful, capable drivers who are truly ready for the real world.
